Infant Program
Although much time is spent in meeting the basic comfort needs of each infant, staff utilizes this time to stimulate language development and sensory integration. Young infants are always held for bottle feedings. The crib area is maintained as a soothing environment conducive to individualized quiet play, one-to-one staff/child interaction, and rest. The daily information sheets summarize activities and provide a re-cap of each child's basic routines. The teacher/staff ratio is 1:4 for infants with a maximum group size of 4.
Toddler Program
Our toddler program is very flexible and activities are adjusted according to individual and small group needs. Expansion of language skills and the development of self-help skills are the focal points of this phase of our program. Each child is encouraged to explore, experience and enjoy the environment at his or her own pace. The staff plans activities that will gradually lead the children from individualized experiences to successful small group interactions. The toddler's emerging sense of independence is encouraged by paying special attention to the setting, allowing many opportunities for safe mastering of the environment. Family style dining is introduced at this age. The teacher/child ratio is 1;6 with a maximum group size of 10.
